Colman Connolly
Colman, originally from Connemara, grew up in London, where he was taught to play uilleann pipes flute and whistle. He is very much involved in the Irish scene in London teaching uilleann pipes in Hammersmith Irish centre and playing in local sessions.
He has toured at length with London based Siansa, as a duo with Harriet Earis and also performed extensively with Déirin Dé since their meeting in 2004. A master of the uilleann pipes, Colman is several times All Britain Champion and was a finalist in the London Irish Musicians of the Year competition, 2003. He has various recordings to his credit: 2003 he recorded the album Go For It with the German based band Déirin Dé and is featured on the debut album by London-Irish singer Helen Roche Shake the Blossom Early (released in October 2004) and on Harriet Earis’ solo album Jumping Ahead. He also collaborates with Imogen Gunner and has recorded on her debut album.
