Colman, originally from Connemara, grew up in London where he was taught
to play uilleann pipes flute and whistle. He was very involved in the
Irish scene for many years up until 2005 when he moved over to Ireland
to teach music and live.
He toured at length with London based Siansa, as a duo with Harriet Earis
and also performed extensively with Déirin Dé since
their meeting in 2002. A master of the uilleann pipes Colman is
several times All Britain Champion and was a finalist in the London
Irish Musicians of the Year competition, 2003. he has various
recordings to his credit: 2003 he recorded the album 'Go For It'
with the German based band Déirin Dé. and is featured on the debut album
by London-Irish singer Helen Roche 'Shake the Blossom Early' (released
in October 2004) Harriet Earis solo album 'Jumping Ahead. He also
collaborates with Imogen Gunner and has recorded on her forthcoming
album. He currently teaches pipes, flute and whistle in Limerick and
also visits London's Hammersmith Irish Centre where he taught uilleann
pipes.
