Colman, originally from Connemara, grew up in London where he was taught
to play uilleann pipes flute and whistle. He was very involved in the
Irish scene for many years up until 2005 when he moved over to Ireland
to teach music and live.
He was
one of the principal teachers at theLondon Pipes Club
for many years. He won the Uilleann Piper of the Year competition
in 2002, becoming a finalist at the Irish Musician of the Year competition
held at Hammersmith Irish Centre and in July 2003 and was given the
title of All Britain Champion on the pipes.
He is very involved in the Irish music scene, and has formed a new trio with
Tobias Kurig on bouzouki and Franziska Urton on Fiddle. Together they have

He is also the second part of a duo
with
Harriet
Earisand plays on her solo album
'Jumping Ahead'. The two
also play with another great duoVicki Swan and Jonny
Dyer
Whilst at the 2003 Frankie Kennedy Weekend in Gweedore, Donegal he met the German BandDéirin
Dé and in 2004 started touring and recording
with them.
Along with Harriet, he
also form part of the London based bandSiansaA
6-piece Irish band, and the two of them recorded tracks on the album by London-Irish singer Helen Rochewhich was
launched at the 2004 Return to Camden Town Festival.
Colman has also verged in
the the punk scene with his uilleann pipes where he was asked to record on
D.S.A's debut album
which is being released in the near future on limited edition 10" vinyl
